Fodder crisis continues
9 May 2007

Farmer groups and governments are struggling to find a solution to southeast Australia's fodder crisis. In the past week two meetings have failed to find any firm solutions to the shortage, which threatens to undercut future beef and dairy production as winter approaches. Victoria's monthly milk production continues to plummet, falling by 16 per cent in March to 382 million litres, compared with 456 million litres in March last year. Australian Dairy Farmers chief executive John McQueen said roughage shortage was the industry's biggest problem.
