No drugs in sheds 22 May 2007
The WA Shearing Contractors Association has said that they support the implementation of random drug tests in shearing sheds. A world record holder in shearing, Brendan Boyle, runs two contract shearing teams and implemented saliva testing last year due to concerns about the use of "crystal meth" methamphetamine by youths. He said "That particular drug is readily available and it is so addictive. The average age of blokes in my team is about 22 years. It’s the young blokes who are on the hard stuff and the young blokes who are more easily led by others."
