Meat and milk going up
12 Jul 2007

Farmers in WA have said that consumers will need to get used to higher prices, particularly for meat and milk, as the drought continues to drive up costs. Tim D'Arcy from the Pastoralists and Graziers Association said that while price rises had not yet reached producers at the farm gate they would need to soon to cover the spiralling costs of grain required to feed livestock. WAFarmers dairy section president Tony Pratico said that production this year could fall below 350 million litres and that farmers would need to be paid more to be able to boost production.
