Pet pig predicament
17 Jul 2007

A family in Cooktown is fighting to save the life of a bush pig called Tiger that is their family pet. The pig was found in the bush lying beside his dead mother 9 months ago and has been nursed to an 80kg adult by the family. The local council has informed the family that the pig is classified as a feral animal and must be put down. The mother-of-two, Raelene Veivers, has said that she will fight the order all the way to the high court if she has to. "The kids just love him. He's got two teddy bears and his own mattress that he sleeps on," she said.
