Rain fails to materialise
24 Jul 2007

Rain that had been predicted for Western Australia over the past weekend was disappointing with only patchy falls reported, however there is still the chance of scattered showers through the rest of this week. Mid-west farmer, Peter Allen, said that his rain gauge showed only 5mm instead of the expected 15-20mm. "It means the crops and pastures will survive for another week or so...we are getting fairly desperate now because it's getting pretty late in the season. We need some good soaking rain now. If everything goes right, we can salvage this season but I think it could be as bad as last year and that would be devastating," he said.
