Livestock transport clean-up to prevent flu spread
29 Aug 2007

Hazard controls have been increased for the transport of sheep, pigs and cattle, in a bid to stop the spread of the equine flu virus. The virus can be carried on humans and other animals - prevention needs to be improved with 400 horses from 53 properties across NSW and Queensland now identified as being infected. The Australian Livestock Transporters Association has asked its commercial livestock transporters to wash hands, boots and crates after pick-up and to prevent dogs from straying on properties during pick-up.
