Foot-and-mouth hits Britain again
13 Sep 2007

The European Union has once again banned British meat exports as another case of foot-and mouth disease has been confirmed. The new case was detected close to the farm where an outbreak occurred last month. Restrictions from the last occurrence had only been lifted for four days and there is now an England-wide ban on the movement of cattle, sheep, pigs and other ruminants. An investigation into the cause of the previous outbreak concluded that it was probably caused by leaking drains, flooding and vehicles moving from nearby animal vaccine laboratories.
