Meat production down, prices up
4 Jul 2008

Meat production fell 3.5 per cent in May, and was also down 3 per cent over the 12 months to May, to 3.2 million tonnes. Herd numbers fell in Victoria and New South Wales but increased in Queensland. ABARE has forecast that the price of cattle will rise 3 per cent this year as producers rebuild herds.
