CWA wants to go to pot 5 Nov 2003
The Tasmanian branch of the Country Women's Association will lobby governments for the legalisation of cannabis for pain relief in the terminally ill and chronic pain sufferers. At the CWA's state conference last weekend the association voted in favour of the proposal.
Tasmanian CWA president Lesley Young said standard analgesics are not well tolerated by all patients, with some suffering negative side-effects or allergic reactions. The association has written to the State Government asking it to consider legalising cannabis for medicinal use.
