Lucky girl to marry a beaut bloke 21 May 2004
Forget Mary and her Danish prince - there's a much more interesting wedding taking place this weekend. Nearly a year after the first Beaut Blokes weekend in Harrow, the first wedding is set for tomorrow - between Greg Featherstone, a station hand from Casterton in south-western Victoria, and Geraldine Marson from Warragul. The couple will take their vows in a church ceremony in a secret location. Greg says it was either a new car or marriage, because his current car wasn't going to last: it's a 425km drive each way to visit Geraldine.
News of the wedding may not have got out, but a journalist from the "Warrnambool Standard" spotted the happy couple buying 1,125 sheep for their new property in Dunkeld.
Organiser of the Beaut Blokes weekends, Ange Newton, said another couple is engaged and there are a further 40 relationships. The next Beaut Blokes event will be held at Ouyen on the weekend of June 25-27. City girls are invited to pay $175 each for a weekend to meet country bachelors.
