The bush gets interactive online atlas
19 Aug 2004

An new interactive online atlas of rural and regional Australia will help farmers and country town residents access up-to-date local statistics. Internet-based Interactive Social Atlas draws on the Bureau of Rural Sciences' "Country Matters - Social Atlas of Rural and Regional Australia".

The atlas contains data on population, employment, income, households and education. The online version allows users to compile regionally specific reports across the same range of social and demographic variables. A user can focus on a particular region to produce his own customised "atlas" with tailored maps. These are then e-mailed to him.

The atlas can be found at http://www.brs.gov.au.
