WA track improved after accident 23 Jan 2007
Racing and Wagering WA has granted the Bunbury Turf Club $33,000 to improve track safety after a training accident killed two horses earlier this month. Hazard lights and a new siren have already been installed, and first aid attendants have been employed as training track supervisors. The extra funds will be used for more lighting to improve visibility during early morning training sessions. The stewards’ investigation revealed that the accident occurred due to lights being manually turned off. The lights have since been altered so that they can no longer be turned off.
