Port clean up costs rising
8 May 2007

The cost of the Esperance contamination scandal is rising and the Esperance Port Authority will be forced to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars cleaning lead and nickel from backyard water tanks. Contractors will today start cleaning the gutters of more than 100 houses of residents who have registered with the port. The Esperance Port Authority estimates the cost of cleaning each water tank at about $1000, including inspection, cleaning of gutters and removal of waste.
