Lead levels cost job
31 May 2007

Following the discovery of high lead levels in the Esperance Port area the head of the Port Authority has stepped down. The high lead levels are thought to have resulted from mining company Magellan Metals exporting lead carbonate as powder rather than pellets. The Port Authority is being held responsible for allowing the situation to occur so the Authority’s chief executive officer, Colin Stewart, announced his retirement to allow the board and his successor to best plan and implement changes.
