Dubbo dares to “save the bush” 8 Feb 2005
Locals in Dubbo will launch a "save the bush" campaign in which country residents will devise a 10-year blueprint aimed at stemming the population drift to the city, and encouraging Sydneysiders to move west. Campaigners say the biggest investment the NSW government has made in the bush in the past 10 years has been building more jails. Organisers say residents in regional NSW were fed up with waiting for government solutions to problems with rural health care and education, and ageing road and rail infrastructure.
