Queensland simplifies inducements to leave the land
19 Jul 2005

The Queensland government will modify restrictions on land clearing so more landholders will qualify for financial assistance to change the way they run their farms or to get off the land permanently. The government said primary producers could get up to $100,000 help through the Queensland Rural Adjustment Authority. The changes will affect farmers and landholders in areas where there is already less than 30 per cent remnant vegetation cover. AgForce said under the present design of the scheme only five farmers had been able to access $500,000, out of an allocated $130 million in subsidies.
