Queensland mulls ‘sustainable’ farming leases
20 Jul 2005

Farmers in Queensland could be given leaseholds over their land of up to 50 years in return for better environmental outcomes. The Department of Primary Industries is considering aiming to achieve "sustainable natural resource outcomes" by proposing flexible performance-based leases over 40 and 50 years terms. The possibility of a 50-year leasehold option is longer than the leases proposed by the farming lobby AgForce.
