Fine reduced for illegal tree clearing
2 Nov 2005

A Queensland cattleman had his appeal against a tree clearing fine upheld in the Brisbane District Court. Christopher McKay of Augathella had appealed a decision earlier this year in the Magistrates Court, which convicted him of clearing cypress pine on his property in 1999. He faced a fine of $270,000. The appeal court reduced the fine to $10,000.
