Long recovery ahead for Eyre Peninsula
12 Jan 2006

Bush fires 12 months ago on the Eyre Peninsula which burnt 800,000ha, 90 houses, 6300 km of fencing and killed nine people and 46,000 head of stock will take decades to recover said the South Australian premier Mike Rann. A truck driver has been charged with starting the fires. Police allege his faulty muffler sparked the fires when he drove through long grass near Wangary.
