Farmers freed to remove native vegetation
1 Aug 2006

The South Australian government will now allow farmers to remove native vegetation that is more than five years old. Landowners had previously been prevented from doing so and often cleared native vegetation that was less than five years old. SAFF said under the old regulations, farmers would rarely encourage new native vegetation to grow on their properties for fear of just losing control of how they managed it and would often plough up paddocks unnecessarily.
