Farm sold at more than double asking price 20 Aug 2007
Families that have held farms for generations are selling up as none of their children wish to stay on the land. The Landers sold their family farm on the banks of the Macleay River in NSW for $2.65 million after expecting to only get $1.2 million for it. The 2284 hectare property had been in the family for six generations over 125 years but their children have their own professions and none were interested in assuming responsibility for the farm. Bidders were attracted from Sydney, Perth, the United Kingdom and an Australian company based in Brazil.
