Project to double size of town
13 Dec 2007

Gatton, 90 kilometres west of Brisbane, is being flooded by developers with a $500 million jail under construction and a proposed extension to the town's University of Queensland campus. The semi-agricultural town has 9,000 residents but this is expected to double with a $300 million residential subdivision comprising 2,200 lots. An undisclosed local landholder sold the site for $17 million.
