Territory land sell-off
5 May 2008

With many pastoralists in the Northern Territory seeking to leave the industry around 10 per cent of the state's leaseholdings are up for public sale. Valuer Frank Peacocke of Herron Todd White said that they are aware of at least another 10,000 square kilometres across four stations that are also quietly on the market. A report by HTW says that a "large chunk" of the Territory's freehold land is also up for sale. "Around 65,000ha across 12 properties, most of which are well-developed horticultural/cropping blocks, will test the depth of the market, which until now has been increasing at unprecedented speed," said Mr Peacocke.
