Magic Millions threatens interstate move 12 Jan 2007
Gerry Harvey, retail giant and Magic Millions co-founder, has threatened to move the prestigious racing and sales carnival interstate unless the Queensland government increases its funding and helps build new facilities on the Gold Coast. In the past 10 years the events turnover has increased from $28 million to $213 million and although it has been held at the Gold Coast for the past 20 years, organisers are keen to continue expanding to attract international buyers. Magic Millions receives $600,000 annual subsidy from the state government.
