Murray River at new record lows 13 Dec 2007
In a first, the water level of the Murray River at Murray Bridge is lower than sea level. A fall of 14 centimetres over the weekend was caused by strong winds which increased evaporation and a lack of water being released through Lock 1 at Blanchetown. There is enough water in the river for SA Water pumps to access and recreational activities, but members of the Murray Bridge Rowing Club can no longer launch boats from the wharf which has turned into a beach.
