GM regulator appointed
12 Dec 2001

Dr Sue Meek has officially been appointed as Australia's first gene technology regulator. The key task of this position will be to ensure that GM crops pose minimal risk to human health and the environment. Dr Meek said she is neither for nor against use of the technology, and is committed to realising potential efficiency gains via responsible use of the technology.
