Technology taking the pain out of shearing
17 Dec 2001

Australian Wool Innovation will spend nearly seven million dollars developing a mobile shearing system called Shear Express. The system is an industrial process that runs the sheep along a mobile platform, allowing a team of skilled operators to take the fleece off.

AWI are confident that Shear Express will not only take the pain out of shearing, but also contain and even cut costs. The new technology is also viewed as a key to overcoming the shortage of traditional shearers across the country.

‘New shearing system gets R&D funds’, ABC Online, 17/12/01
