Broadband access report underway
1 Mar 2002

The Federal Government has announced it will set up an advisory group to look at access to broadband services in regional areas. The group will advise the Government on ways to give all communities access to the satellite technology, which will result in faster and less expensive internet access in regional areas.

Two of Australia's telco's, Optus and Apertura, have already joined forces to provide rural communities with broadband internet access, with plans to jointly provide one satellite dish which will service entire communities.

'Group to report on broadband access' & 'Telcos commit to broadband access', ABC Rural, 01/03/02.
