$14 million wheat breeding deal
13 Mar 2002

AWB Limited has signed a $14 million deal with international seed company, Syngenta, to breed new wheat varieties for Australian growers. The joint venture will be called LongReach Plant Breeders and will be based in southeast Australia.

AWB's manager of research and development, Tony Kent, says the deal is designed to involve AWB in the entire grain production chain, so that niche products can be developed to effectively meet market demands.

'AWB signs $14 million wheat breeding deal', ABC Rural, 13/03/01.
