Consumers give tick to healthier GM foods 19 Apr 2002
60% of Australians say they would buy genetically modified food if it was healthier than traditional food, according to research by Biotechnology Australia. Food that was genetically modified to taste better was shown to be less popular with 51% saying they would purchase such produce.
Such findings were reflected in the results showing that Australians would prefer labelling that explained why a food had been genetically modified, rather than simply labelling a food as genetically modified.
