We're ahead on Net, e-commerce
22 Apr 2002

A new study by the National Office for the Information Economy shows that Australians are ranked third in the world in their uptake of Internet technology and online commerce, after the US (1st) and Sweden. More than half of all Australian households are connected to the Internet, 72 per cent of the population has ready access to the Net and 64 per cent of adults own a mobile phone.

The NOIE report states that Australia is poised to capitalise on a global boom in online commerce.
