NSW Farmers maintain opposition to Telstra sale
14 Jul 2005

Phone services in rural NSW are "a joke" and the sale of Telstra should not proceed without a commitment by the Federal Government to improve access and guarantee future funding, the NSW Farmers Association said. NSW Farmers said rural landlines and mobile coverage were substandard and the Government needed to fix services before proceeding with the sale. The association yesterday released a survey of 14 regional electorates that found 80 per cent of farmers opposed the privatisation and 63 per cent received poor mobile coverage.
