Telstra boss bashes bush subsidy

Telstra chief executive Sol Trujillo reinforced the company’s complaint that funding of the universal service obligation, which subsidies Telstra’s provision of basic services in the bush, was inadequate. The federal government needed to rethink how the USO was funded, Trujillo said, "because competition is undermining the viability of the old system".
