New conditions to keep Telstra staff in the bush

Rural communities will get a say in how Telstra should maintain services in their region under a new licensing condition unveiled yesterday by the federal government.

Telstra will be forced to develop a "local presence plan" for all rural and regional areas which will be assessed and approved by the government.
