NFF changes tune on Telstra
14 Sep 2005

The National Farmers Federation urged the Senate to support the legislation to allow the full privatisation of Telstra. The nation's peak farming group yesterday abandoned its opposition, saying the Federal Government's $3.1billion funding sweetener was "the best outcome" that could be achieved for rural Australia. NFF president Peter Corish said that basic service telephone repair times in some parts of Australia are not up to scratch, but said he had received assurances the $2 billion telecommunications fund would ensure rural Australia got equitable access to new telecommunications.
