Some GM contamination tolerated
28 Oct 2005

State and federal agriculture ministers have agreed to adjust moratoria on genetically modified crops to allow a threshold of 0.9 per cent contamination in crops. It follows the recent detection of trace levels of GM canola in non-GM production systems. Ministers also agreed to a threshold levels for commercial seed for sale of 0.5 per cent for the 2006 and 2007 seasons, then down to 0.1 per cent thereafter.
