Taskforce says end drought relief

A review of Australia’s farming sector by a high powered group of industry leaders, including the head of the National Farmers Federation, recommended that the government promote self reliance amongst farmers by ending drought relief subsidies. The report also say farmers should get paid for conserving biodiversity and native forest and that states must end their ban on GM technology to prevent Australia falling further behind other countries.
