Less R&D threatens farm productivity 15 Mar 2006
Farm productivity grew about 4 per cent per year during the 1990’s, outstripping other corporates in productivity growth. However, government spending on rural research and development has fallen since the 1980’s and private investment in R&D has not made up the shortfall says prominent farm policy think-tank the Australian Farm Policy Institute. Competing countries, including developing nations are spending more on rural R&D says the Institute.
