More studies into GM crops
1 May 2006

The federal government has announced funding for eight major studies to determine the future role of genetically modified crops in Australia. The Bureau of Rural Sciences, the Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics and some private sector entities will undertake the studies. Issues surrounding GM canola will largely dominate the studies, with a comprehensive report card on the effects of GM canola expected to determine whether the crop should be introduced into Australia.
