Computer keeps an eye on the farm

A new computer system has been developed that will help farmers to track domestic and wild animals on their properties. The system can tell the differences between sheep, goats, cattle, horses, pigs, kangaroos and emus and can be adapted to other species. Once animals have been identified the system can control automated gates, and their access to water and food points. The technology has been developed by the Universities of Queensland and South Australia with the aim of boosting farm productivity while stopping the build-up of feral animal populations.
