Broadband plan takes another step 8 Jan 2008
The Optus led Opel consortium is closer to realising its goal of rolling out broadband for rural areas. Optus purchased spectrum licences from regional pay TV provider Austar for $65 million which can be used as the basis for the broadband network. Austar had planned its own wi-max broadband service but is now likely to sell the Opel service as part of a joint venture or under a re-sell agreement.
