Farmer groups urge Telstra to reconsider 15 Jan 2008
The South Australian Farmers Federation has said that there are too many "dead spots" in Telstra's NextG mobile network to allow the old CDMA network to be shut down. President of the SAFF Wayne Cornish said that both the state body and the National Farmers Federation have been pleading with Telstra to delay the switch but to no avail. He said that while there would always be some difficulties with any new technology the CDMA service had to be equalled or bettered before it was withdrawn. Telstra has put the problems being experienced by some people down to inappropriate choice of handset or faults at individual base stations.
