Community grape crop
23 Mar 2004

One of the world's oldest suburban vineyards celebrated its annual harvest yesterday. The Marion vineyard, now jointly operated by Marion residents and Richard Hamilton winery and owned by Marion Council, was established in 1907 by Frank Hamilton as part of the early plantings of the F. E. Hamilton and Sons Winery & Distillery.

Marion Council bought the vineyard in 1972 but it was neglected and wasn't restored until the early 1990s. Winemaker Paul Gordon described this year's fruit quality as "excellent".

The Advertiser, 23/3/04, page 13.
