Vintage vintners will soon age to perfection
5 Apr 2004

The men of Coonawarra need to be convinced that there's more to good health than a good cabernet. South Australia's South-East community is focusing on a men's health development project aimed at the people behind some Australia's best wines, hoping that they also improve with age.

The project is encouraging the male-dominated industry to be more concerned about personal well-being. Coonawarra Vignerons' Association spokeswoman Wendy Hollick said that traditionally the men aren't keen to seek medical advice. They think that because they're working in the open air they should be healthy. But it raises all sorts of issues, like melanomas and other skin damage.

The project will run for three years and also address diet, exercise, smoking, hearing problems, cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes.

The Advertiser, 31/3/04.
