Fosters poised to axe Rothbury Estate
20 Jan 2005

The Rothbury Estate vineyard in the Hunter Valley could be closed if Foster's swallows Southcorp. Foster's said it may close some of Southcorp's vineyards in the Hunter Valley as part of a restructuring to help pay for the takeover bid. While they refused to say which vineyards might be closed, the Hunter Valley Vignerons Association said the most likely candidate was Rothbury Estate. Southcorp's two main assets in the Hunter were Rosemount and Rothbury. Rosemount crushes around 30 tonnes of grapes each year, and Fosters would be unlikely to close that operation.

Daily Telegraph, 20/01/05
