Glut leaves grapes withering on the vine
20 Apr 2005

A glut of grapes means that that thousands of tonnes will be left to wither on the vine.

Murray Valley Winegrowers, a regional industry association, estimates that between 15,000 and 20,000 tonnes could be left unpicked in the region. That’s equal to the entire annual production of the Hunter Valley wine grape region in New South Wales. The Riverland Winegrape Growers Association in South Australia said 16,000 tonnes in the area had yet to be sold.
