Growers paid to leave grapes on the vine 22 Jul 2005
Grape growers from the Barossa Valley region say the oversupply of wine grapes and massive stockpiles of wine are signals of a crisis which has left tonnes of grapes to wither on the vine. In some cases, companies paid suppliers not to pick their grapes for the 2005 vintage, the Barossa Winegrape Growers' Council said.
