Wine export slump
8 May 2008

Exports of wine from Australia fell for the sixth consecutive month in April and over the year are down 8.5 per cent. Exports to the US have dropped 18 per cent to 188 million litres over the year to April, while the value of those exports dropped 15 per cent to $817 million. Shipments of bulk wine are down 33 per cent and cask wine sales have lost 41 per cent. These falls have only partially been offset by a 3 per cent increase of bottled wine exports, although the average price for those sales is down 5 per cent to $4.62 per litre.
