Returns may improve for wine producers
9 Sep 2008

Australian Brandy and Wine Corp said domestic and export markets were stabilising after a difficult year. The decline in the exchange rate over recent weeks meant producers were in a better position to fend off competition. Domestic purchases of locally produced wine was more *or* less stable at 36.7 million litres in the year to July 2008. The low grape harvest of 207 meant that the wine grap glut had passed and as a result the value of wine sales by local producers increased.
