Rains only trickle into Murray 5 Feb 2008
The Murray-Darling basin has had its wettest January since 2004 with an average of 69.33mm across the area compared with an historical average of 57.4mm. However inflows into the Murray in the month totalled 130 gigalitres compared with the long-term January average of 235 gigalitres. Water storage along the Murray is only 20 per cent of capacity at 1829 gigalitres.
